This is a Tunnels and Trolls adventure in the Castle Calahony series.
All around you the world seems to be filled with the screams of wounded and
dying men. Steel clashes on steel, and the stench of blood and sweat fills
the air. Lightning seems to strike through the dark clouds gathering above
the battlefield, making it look like even the gods are at war. Or are it
just the army's wizards, fighting their own surrrealistic battle? Large rocks
are hurled through the air, as the barons catapults throw their deadly load
into the formless mass of orcs opposing you.
The front 5 soldiers battle against the first 5 orcs. You may split this up into individual combat or fight it out as a group.
You must replace both your own soldiers as the orc soldiers with soldiers from the second line when they are slain. Only soldiers in the first line may fight; wizards / rogues in the second line may help with combat spells, but no fighter may help the one in front of him.
Individual orcs give up as soon as their con is reduced to half or less. The orc soldiers break as soon as more 1/3rd of them have been killed or out of action. That is right, they are not very motivated. They are out for loot, they do not regard death as an honour. You must fight until death or victory (but you may retire a wounded or exhausted front soldier for someone from your second line).
Those in your group who are in the second row have time to see how the sky darkens with clouds. Thunder strikes the mountain tops as even the elements seem to be at war. The catapults of the Barons army hurl big stone sthrough the air, no doubt doing great damage to the orcish troops, allthough you do not profit directly.
If you die, you are dead. If you win, the
battle is ending. (you may take adventure
points and skill points equal to the sum of the prime attributes of the orcs
you defeated, even if they fled away. You may only plunder those orcs who
are left dead).
